Amanda Ryen Smigelsky
(August 18, 1987 - )

Amanda Ryen was born on August 18, 1987 in Santa Paula, California.

From an early age, Amanda was singing all the time. When she was in fourth grade, her choir teacher sent a note home telling Greg and Ruthann that they should look into putting her in the church choir. Amanda sang with the church choir thru high school and was in the Christmas play each year. She was also involved in choir at school and in the theatre program.

Amanda graduated from Dublin Scioto High School in 2005. She was chosen to sing at the graduation and received a standing ovation. In the fall, she began her studies at Ohio State University.

In May 2006 Amanda was selected as one of 20 finalist from over 200 auditions for Pepsi’s Gimme the Mike Columbus show. Each weekly show had 4 of the finalist competing against each other. Amanda won her show and was in the finale. Unfortunately she did not win the finale, but it did get her the opportunity to sing the National Anthem at two Columbus Blue Jackets hockey games.

Amanda loves being a Buckeye. She is majoring in communications and is singing when ever possible. She is the membership chairperson of The American Red Cross Club at OSU.

She also works part time for Greaters Ice Cream as a special items assistant, making and decorating cakes and pies.
